A laboratory of sustainable development, the Biosphere Reserve extends from the sea to the tundra; from farm crops to forests, from schools of Capelin to herds of caribou all under the close watch of the Blue Robin and the Bald Eagle. Proud are the people who live, work, develop and protect the territory of the Charlevoix World Biosphere Reserve, whose status was granted by UNESCO in 1989 (history).

We work to improve the life conditions of the population by protecting the health of the environment through the effective management of the natural resources. By so doing, and with respect to the conservation of ecosystems through research, training and community cooperation, we ensure consistency with the views and objectives of UNESCO. While at the same time, it is basic to our values as inhabitants of Charlevoix to participate in the development of regional prosperity and community pride within the Biosphere
